HISTORY

It all started with a few dedicated parents and a single team of eager 11 and 12-year-old boys who had played recreational soccer and were looking for something more competitive. They called themselves the “The Heat” and they entered their team in the Central Michigan Soccer Association (CMSA), a select-level travel league serving Jackson, Hillsdale and Lenawee counties. The Jackson teams, who had dominated CMSA for years, were surprised to find a worthy new opponent in The Heat.  Our boys went on to win the league and a new tradition was born. Over the next few years, two more teams were formed and we became a presence in the girls U12 and U14 divisions of CMSA, as well. Since then, HSC has consistently had competitive teams. Our teams eventually went on to participate in a more competitive league called CASL (Capital Area Soccer League).

Our players have gone on to be leaders on local varsity soccer teams and many have continued further to play club and varsity soccer at the college level. Some of our teams have even participated in state cup and national tournaments. Players who start with us at a young age often develop to the point of being recruited by premier clubs. While recruitment has never been our objective, outside interest in our players is a testament to the quality foundation our training programs can provide when players and families are committed to learning and growing. Our programs have traditionally been tailored for multi-sport student athletes who are looking for well-rounded youth sports experiences.

Over the years, we added a development academy component to our program with the goal of preparing players as young as four for the competitive field by the age of eight or nine. We recognized early on that it takes years of training to attain the proficiency to compete with any degree of success. Our coaches have always been committed, patient, and passionate about the game and the children who follow it. HSC has attracted and retained the most qualified coaches in the area. Our club has long been the heart of the growing soccer culture in Hillsdale County!
